25 Years of Cooperation between Schott Systeme GmbH and Spatial Corporation
Since launching its CAD/CAM software "Pictures by PC" in 1984, Schott Systeme GmbH has essentially developed its entire product portfolio in-house. The company moved shortly after their founding to Munich, which is often referred to as the "German Silicon Valley," where the development of their software innovations have been implemented ever since.
Twenty-five years ago, Spatial Corporation's compatible 3D modelling kernel, ACIS, was integrated into Schott Systeme’s Pictures by PC CAD software, being to date, the only externally developed technology utilised by the company. As early as 1995, Schott Systeme had also developed its own high-end technologies for surface modelling using Bézier mathematics; and the ACIS kernel complemented this by providing an industry standard for solid models.
Thanks in part to the advanced modelling capabilities of the ACIS kernel, "Pictures by PC" has evolved over the years into an ideal solution for complex 3D design tasks, such as those found in mould and model making. The ACIS kernel enables, for example, local modifications to imported solid geometry, allowing designs imported from any CAD system to be modified without having to revert to the original parametric design history.
Schott Systeme GmbH continues this partnership to this day, as explained in the following interview between Mr. Gunther Wamser, Managing Director of Schott Systeme GmbH, and Spatial Corporation.
